A site that sells huge numbers of tickets, engages all audiences, and positions the festival in its rightful place on the international circuit.

This festival site is a great example of how an effective working process can reap huge rewards in designing and building a comprehensive, flexible site effectively and efficiently.

Our first task was to consult with their Artistic Director who had a clear vision of how the Festival should be perceived and positioned (as a fixture on the International arts festival calendar). Concurrently, we held face-to-face meetings with the marketing and communications team at the Festival. They had a specific desire to push levels of interaction and accountability with their audience.

We worked through a process of research, planning, visual experimentation and implementation. The site was designed, built and launched in six weeks.

1. We produced persona documents (to explore the areas that potential visitors would want/need).

2. Then we worked up a site plan, showing, at a site-wide level how the pages interconnect.

3. Next in the process we created wireframes to examine the specific level of details contained on each page.

4. Then we started applying some visual styling to that thinking.

Each page provides a multitude of possible interactions but we’ve used hierarchy, scale, colour and other design cues to guide visitors to key content.
