season brochure

A remarkable venue, expertly combining the splendour of the Edwardian, West-end theatrical experience with the relevance of a modern regional venue.

We were brought in after a major refurbishment and a need to reconnect with their core audience whilst attracting new audiences.

The first challenge was reinforcing the curatorial nature of the venue. They book the best touring shows and produce their own plays and performances. We established a visual house-style for the brochure, maintaining a calm and consistent tone throughout, allowing event images to sell without shouting.

The second challenge was to convey the sense of community.  Local people can see world-class shows, and can pop in for a lunchtime coffee or pre-show meal. We commissioned a sries of unstaged photographs of audiences. We've used these to convey atmosphere and to promote specific offerings like the café and bar.

We’ve also been lucky enough to be commissioned to work on a number of event images which feature in the brochures and are adopted as the show's marketing material.

I’ve really enjoyed working on the brochure and the opportunity of working on event specific images is a real treat. I’m particularly pleased when we get to work with photographers and illustrators; the collaboration brings a whole new dimension to the process.

It’s been great working with the team at Watford Palace; they have such a passion for the theatre, it’s infectious to be around that kind of enthusiasm.
