Doncaster is the biggest town in England, it’s also (according to Arts Council data) one of the least arts-engaged towns in the country. So, branding this new venue was never going to be an easy task.
We facilitated workshops with lots of different stakeholder groups. It was clear that there was a great sense of both pride in the town and scepticism about the new venue (and the fact that it was to be managed by the local authority).
Involving so many local stakeholders in the process was the key to unlocking the decision making process.
Cast may seem like an obvious choice of name now but it felt like a radical first step to locals (and local press) who wanted to name it after a Doncaster celebrity.
Thanks for all your brilliant work on brand Cast! We love the name and the look.
We handed over a complete toolkit of the brand and visual identity. It covers everything from how to use the logo creatively, to how dates should be formatted on the website.
One of my favourite aspects of this brand is its flexibility. We’ve provided a basic kit of parts, using those the Cast team can be as creative as they like (or fall back on the suite of supplied templates).
Our client is always interested in pushing for new and interesting ways of achieving the best results. For their events’ brochure, we worked together to create an A4 newsprint document that folds down to fit in A5 racks.
We were also commissioned to work on the venue’s website.
Through workshops and discussion we soon realised that this needed to be much more than just a great venue site that works well on any digital platform.
Working with the wonderful development team at Tincan, we’ve created an online community, A Cast of Thousands, that allows any audience member to be a part of this innovative and exciting venue.
