We set off in small groups (as our working days came to a natural full stop) and met in the gardens of the newly opened ‘The Old Brewery’ within the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich.
The Old Brewery is a bar/café by day and a pretty swanky restaurant by night. We had a few drinks, first, then into the wonderful, double-height dining room. A good time was had by all.
We started the evening soaking up that last bit of evening summer sun in the beer garden. Whilst enjoying the different varieties of beers and ciders, we encountered, what surely must have been, the fattest pigeon of Greenwich. This, of course, caused much laughter and jokes.
The restaurant itself is a large, airy space and the brewery equipment and bottle arrangements on the ceiling create a lovely atmosphere.
The food was classy and wholesome, the beer tasty, and the service friendly. Though, at times, our group felt a bit unruly next to the couples who were enjoying romantic meals.
We ended a lovely evening back in the beer garden, under the stars, with a few digestifs to help us on our way home.
