SLG has a worldwide reputation for a ground-breaking programme of contemporary art exhibitions, alongside its exceptional community and education work. Our job was to bring that online.
With a vision to ‘bring art to the people of South London’, the South London Gallery (SLG) was established in the 19th century by philanthropist William Rossiter. Today it continues that tradition and is one of the capital’s leading contemporary visual art institutions.
We were approached to design and build a site that ‘speaks’ to international visitors in the art world; artists, curators, collectors; and provides an approachable and welcoming space to families from the local Peckham area.
The result is a site that allows art and artists to be showcased without compromise.
We created a distinct area to present their multiple collections and archives and a journal to house blog posts from different voices from their community.
It is so wonderful to see so many big and beautiful pictures across all sections of the site offering a true sense of the gallery offer. It is brilliant and the kind of website the gallery always needed.
