Harewood House

Reimagining the country house

Harewood House

Website

Opening this Yorkshire jewel house and its stunning collections to the wider public, with sensitivities and recognition of the slave trade that funded its building.

Harewood House is the stunning country estate, featured in Downtown Abbey. After a long period of reorganisation, re-landscaping and re-focus, the trust that runs it were ready to reopen to new audiences.

The energy, creativity and attention to detail that you’ve brought has genuinely made this project a joy.
Beth Dawes, Head of Marketing & Audiences

Their audiences include: local communities, who see this as their amenity for picnics and day-trips; historians and academics, interested in the archives; art and culture buffs, interested in the impressive archives; and many more.

The transparency that I sense is key to Cog’s culture has also been much appreciated. We have felt in the loop at every stage.
Beth Dawes, Head of Marketing & Audiences
You’ve made every technical aspect easy to understand, and kept us on pace without ever making us feel under pressure.
Beth Dawes, Head of Marketing & Audiences

Through workshops, discussions and meticulous planning we created a site that can meet all of their needs in a super-flexible framework.

We continue to provide ongoing support and design evolutions as they better understand their fast-growing membership and complex ticketing needs.

We’re particularly proud of their online booking journey which has to flex to accommodate a broad band of pricing, selective availability and diverted paths during peak seasons.

In their case we worked closely with their ticketing providers, Spektrix to streamline and hugely increase online sales whilst reducing admin and unnecessary telephone enquiries.

Harewood House was built in the 18th century by Edwin Lascelles. The trust were especially focused on actively recognising their history: generations of the Lascelles family were Caribbean sugar merchants and actively exploited thousands of enslaved African people to make their business profitable.

The site is super-flexible to allow their team to surface this story through.
