Everyday Cog

We’re not ones to get distracted by the upcoming four day weekend and Jubilee celebrations, but we seem to have had a royal visit to the Studio Gardens today.

John has been experimenting with some photographic techniques in the studio today. A torch, a tripod and a helping hand all played their part to get some great results.

Mohammad has been back in the studio today making sure our computers are all shipshape and tidy.

Whilst looking for some old maps in a little bookshop in Greenwich, Nicola came accross these wonderful design classics.

These Mid 19th Century maps have arrived in the studio for a project we are working on for The Beaney, they smell amazing.

This week we have Jamila here in the studio on work experience. Day number two and we’ve got her giving a presentation to the team, she’s doing brilliantly.

Today marks Nicola’s 3 month anniversary as a Cogger. To celebrate, we have given her, her very own set of keys.

Mike and Michael are in Canterbury. Krystyna, from The Beaney, is talking through her vision for their collections.

Jamila turns 17 on Saturday, this makes the Cog team all feel very old, but you’re never too old to enjoy birthday cake and bunting so the team aren’t feeling too bad after all. Happy Birthday Jamila.

A thank you gift from Jamila and holiday gift from Ocky, we’ve got our chocolate fix sorted in the studio today.

Tonight was our monthly Cog Night, and we went to Up the Creek in Greenwich, to see Stand Up For The Week – a work in progress. Josh Widdicombe seemed a little confused as to why there were more than 3 people in the audience when the football was on.

Michael has been to visit our clients at the Commonwealth Foundation in Marlborough House, where photography is not permitted.

We have Elke back with us for the next couple of weeks, she’s been biking to the us each day, making use of our studio bike rack.

Nicola has been First Aid training with the British Red Cross. Recovery position trained and face shield at the ready, she is now fully prepared in case of an office emergency.

It’s Michael’s birthday and he seems particularly pleased with his birthday badge. We are celebrating the best way we know how, with plenty of cake.

John has been in St Alfege Park this lunchtime and has come across Gijs Van Bon’s art installation, Skryf. Part of Greenwich and Docklands International Festival, the installation moves through through the park, leaving famous lines from Ted Hughes, Charles Dickens and artists from this year’s festival.

Grainne Cook is here visiting us from the Arts Council today. There’s a lot to talk about, so plenty of tea and biscuits are on hand as Grainne and Dave discuss another big project we are working on.

Interested to see what recent graduates have been designing, and what talent is emerging, Ocky and John have been to the D&AD exhibition, New Blood.

Mike and Michael were at Warwick Castle for the Antalis McNaughton design awards. We didn’t win a gong but were commended for our work with DBA. Mike ‘borrowed’ a trophy from one of the winners for this photo.
