Cog Christmas 2018

Cog Christmas 2018

In 2018, tragedy struck the Cog Christmas tree. Read Emily’s account of the ways our wonderful clients helped to “Spruce up Cog’s Christmas.”

With Christmas fast approaching it was time to deck the Cog studio in festive cheer. As we usually do, we strung-up giant baubles and wrapped the studio walls in tinsel. But instead of decorating our tree, we paused and challenged our clients and partners with a merry mission.

We sent them a note, along with a decoration. We explained that tragedy has struck and all our decorations had ‘disappeared’. We asked them to help Spruce Up our Christmas tree.

We asked them to create a short clip ’passing’ us back the tree decorations we’d ‘lost’.

We offered an indulgent prize to the most inventive video. And we sent a couple of examples.
Getting in a spin about Christmas we demonstrated tinsel and crackers using Alex (the hand) and the three Dave's.

We had a fun day in the studio. individually wrapping each decoration, adding an instruction card, placing it in a gift box, wrapping it in brown paper, and running the whole lot down to the post office.

Emily R, still smiling despite a full day of packing and wrapping.

As the individual ‘hand-over’ videos began to come in, we produced a corresponding ‘receiving’ video, featuring the Cog team members.

Jack throwing fake snow, in response to the video from Soho Theatre.

The team were in full swing channeling their festive energy with snow throwing, bauble grabbing and even a little hula dancing.

Claire, filing Emily’s Hula skills, in response to the video from Royal College of Music.

With our deadline fast approaching it was time to stitch all our videos together (add a seasonal soundtrack) and share it with the world.

Below is the finished result. Take a look at how our wonderful clients Spruced up Cog’s Christmas. Turn up your speakers for the full effect.

We were thrilled that so many of our lovely clients took part. A massive thank you to them.

But who deserved the ‘indulgent prize?

Using a range of locations, team members and a special performance from Tank (the studio dog) The Cogency won our Christmas hamper, congratulations!

With our tree finally decorated the Cog studio and team were now ready for Christmas and the prospects of what the new year would bring.

From everyone at Cog we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2019.
